The Lord’s Day, April 1, 2018
Read Matthew 28:5-6
Has the Story Changed?
The story has not changed in 2000 years.
The tomb is empty. Christ has risen from the grave. He is alive!
The story has not changed, but has the story changed you?
Paul tells the church at Corinth: “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied” (1Cor.15:19).
In other words, the story changes our life now and forever, and we’ve got to believe it and live in it. The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes our now and our eternity. The Lord is not in a tomb, He is reigning in glory and His Spirit lives and reigns within you and me! That’s where HE is.
Paul powerfully concludes saying, “Death has been swallowed up in victory. ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you….” (1Cor.15:53-58).
I love that – He give us the victory… stand firm. Let nothing move you! In Christ, and by the mystery of Christ in us, we stand on a solid Rock. We are immovable, strong, loved children of the risen King of kings.
The enemy hates this story. He lies profusely to sow seeds of doubt and distract us from the truth. He tries to label you with a distortion of the truth of who you are. He wants to move us.
The truth is JESUS IS ALIVE. The truth is HE has crushed Satan and put death to death. The truth is He has purchased life for you and me. The truth is we are full of Christ’s power, Christ’s love and Christ’s everlasting life. That is HIStory – and He has changed everything, including you and me.
Father, Thank you for the cross, Lord. Thank you for the price You paid.
Thank you for the amazing grace that changed my story! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
